Maria & John's Marrakech Wedding Celebration - Scarabeo Camp & Beldi Country Club
Maria & John’s Dream Wedding in Marrakech: A Perfect Blend of Cultures and Love
Maria and John’s wedding in Marrakech was nothing short of magical. For Maria, the choice of location was deeply personal. With her Moroccan heritage and fond memories of visiting her Moroccan grandmother—who had sadly passed away three years ago—it was a place that held immense meaning. Her grandmother even got a special mention in her mother’s heartfelt speech during the wedding. Pairing this connection with John’s warmth and their shared vision, they created a celebration that blended Moroccan charm with Western elegance, leaving their guests in awe.

The festivities kicked off with a pre-wedding celebration at the stunning @scarabeo_camp in the Agafay Desert. Guests were treated to a truly authentic Moroccan experience with traditional singers, a mesmerising fire performer illuminating the dark desert sky, henna artists, camel rides, and of course, mouth-watering Moroccan cuisine. Maria and John even managed to steal a private moment, riding camels before their guests arrived, which doubled as a dreamy couple’s shoot amidst the breathtaking desert landscape.
The wedding day itself unfolded at the elegant @beldicountryclub in Marrakech. Their ceremony took place in the venue’s greenhouse, an enchanting space with a glass ceiling, tropical plants, and a Moroccan tiled floor that added a vibrant yet timeless charm. Rows of guests were surrounded by colourful floral arrangements, with striking red and orange blooms complemented by lush foliage. The setting couldn’t have been more perfect for the heartfelt ceremony.
Maria’s brother had the honour of walking her down the aisle, while John’s pregnant sister officiated the ceremony—a beautifully personal touch. The couple exchanged deeply emotional vows before the ceremony in a private first look. Maria tapped John on the shoulder, and as they turned to see each other, the emotions were overwhelming; both were in tears as they spoke about the safety and calm they found in one another. These vows became the perfect backdrop for their teaser trailer, filmed by @russellkenticholls, a true testament to their love.
A lighthearted moment during the ceremony brought a touch of humour when the humidity made it a bit of a struggle for Maria to slip the ring onto John’s finger. It was these little moments—both emotional and funny—that made the day so memorable.
For the reception, guests stepped into a beautifully styled space at @beldicountryclub. The most striking feature was the lanterns hanging from the ceiling, casting a warm glow over the room. The tables were adorned with candles, intricate florals by @thebloomroom.marrakech, and keepsake tagines that added a touch of Moroccan authenticity. The couple’s vision for a Western-Moroccan fusion was seamlessly brought to life, with the decor reflecting their personalities and the cultural richness of the setting.
Maria and John also incorporated a traditional Moroccan segment into their day. Maria wore a stunning Moroccan wedding outfit, and the couple was carried on platforms in a traditional Amaria—a spectacular nod to Moroccan wedding traditions. The blend of cultural elements, from the décor to the experiences, made their celebration unique and unforgettable.
The details throughout the day were incredible. Moroccan hats were given to guests, symbolising a unity between the American and Moroccan attendees. Tagine wedding favours, shisha tasting, and delectable Moroccan desserts added layers of depth and thoughtfulness to the guest experience. Every detail was a testament to the couple’s love for their families and their desire to create an unforgettable experience.
The colour palette was another standout feature, with pale jade green (almost like an eggshell blue), orange, red, and cream weaving through the day. John looked dashing in his brown suit, perfectly complementing the vibrant surroundings and the warm Moroccan tones. Even the natural beauty of the venue played a role, with raised floral displays at the ceremony adding to the organic feel of the greenhouse.
As the sun set over Marrakech, the magic only deepened. At their pre-wedding dinner in the desert, burning pots of oil illuminated the pathways, creating a romantic and almost otherworldly glow. On the wedding day itself, the joy of friends and family, many of whom had never been to Morocco—or even left the USA—was palpable. The wedding wasn’t just a celebration of Maria and John’s love but an immersive experience that brought everyone closer to the culture and beauty of Morocco.
